Payroll and 1099s
Run payroll, track your subs, and keep contractor paperwork straight long before January gets ugly.
Serving Lincoln, Omaha and southeast Nebraska
Payroll goes wrong quietly. The run itself is fine — it’s the year-end that bites, when nobody can find a subcontractor’s address and the 1099 deadline is a week out.
What I handle
- Payroll runs. Regular payroll processed on schedule, with the tax withholdings recorded properly in the books rather than as a lump that has to be untangled later.
- Contractor tracking. Every sub you pay, tracked against a W-9 from the day they start — not chased down in January.
- 1099 preparation. Filed on time, for the right people, with the right numbers.
- Clean payroll records in your books. Wages, taxes and benefits landing in the right accounts, so your profit and loss reflects what labour actually costs you.
Why the tracking matters more than the filing
The filing is a deadline. The tracking is what tells you whether a job made money.
If subcontractor costs aren’t tied to the jobs they belong to, your P&L will show a healthy month while a specific job quietly lost money. Getting payroll and contractor costs recorded properly is what makes job-level reporting possible at all.
A note on scope
I handle the bookkeeping side of payroll and the 1099s. I don’t file payroll tax returns or represent you to the IRS — that’s your CPA’s work, and I’ll hand them records that make it quick.
